Just three miles to the west from the centre of Bury St Edmunds, Little Saxham is situated in a quiet spot, away from busy main roads. The A14 passes along its northern boundary, but its road noise is seldom heard in the centre of the village.
It's possible to walk into town, certainly to cycle, but sadly the road can be dangerous with motorists tending to drive too fast. A cycle/pedestrian path would be a real asset...are you listening, St Edmundsbury Council?
Little Saxham extends into Ickworth Park to the south (see picture of the famous Rotunda, right.) There is one public right of way (for horses, bicycles and pedestrians only) into the park from this direction, a bridle way off the road to Bury at Crowswood Cottage, which follows the village's eastern boundary.
To the west it is a mile to our sister parish, Great Saxham and three miles to Barrow. To the south, Hargrave and Chevington are both three miles away. To the north, Risby is two miles distant, the other side of the A14.
