Built about 1850 in the Gothic style, Churchfield was formerly three estate cottages. The prominent two-storey gabled porch, open at ground level on timber posts, was formerly the entrance to two cottages. The old picture was taken in 1907, the new in 2004.
Taken from an almost identical position, the new white grave on the far right of the old picture gives an indication of when the photo was taken. The gravestone is dated 1890.
The tombs in the foreground are of the Jillings family, left to right: Agnes (d. 1870), Albert (d. 1876), Louisa (d. 1887) and John (d. 1897).
