A Millennium Committee was established to undertake a number of projects during 2000, chaired by Sally Gower.
These projects included tree and bulb planting, a walk around the parish boundary and a talk on the history of Little Saxham Hall. But by far the largest single project was the production of the Millennium Book.
This 52-page booklet contained photographs of all 40 dwellings in the village. The people living in these houses were pictured outside, together with assorted dogs, cats and even horses! A short description of every inhabitant then followed, including their ages, where they were born and when they moved to Little Saxham.
This record is a fascinating demographic snapshot of the village in the year 2000. Future historians will no doubt smile at the way we dressed! A copy of the booklet can be seen in the Suffolk Record Office.
The production of the booklet was partly funded by St Edmundsbury Borough Council. The balance was raised from events held in the village.
